The Shanghaimiao Coal Mine is located in the south of the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region, on the northwestern edge of the Erdos basin, which is under the jurisdiction of the Shanghaimiao Town, Etuoke Front Banner. In order to know the regional stress field well, five stress measurement campaigns were carried out in five deep boreholes, with the maximum measurement depth of 700m. The measurement results indicate that the orientation of the maximum horizontal principal stress is NEE to SWW, and the relationship between the three principal stresses are SHSVSh. According to the Anderson's Theory, the stress state is favorable for the movement of strike-slip faults. In accordance with the measurements, the ratios of SH/Sh is stable at about 1.71, which is good to the simple design of mining shafts and tunnels. At the same time, the stable stress state is favorable to the stability of underground infrastructures in the mine.
