The influence of the TGD (Three Gorges Dam) constructed upstream on the sediment transport in the Yangtze Estuary has been investigated in this paper. The process-based model is used to simulate the sediment transport in the Yangtze Estuary before and after the TGD constructed. The result shows that the influence of TGD on the sediment budget in the mouth bar area of the estuary is significant. The seasonal feature of sediment transport around the mouth bar area remains the same after the TGD constructed as that before, i.e. erosion in dry season and deposition in wet season with sedimentation in total over a year. However, the magnitude of total amount sediment trapped in the mouth bar area decrease tremendously after the TGD constructed, as account of 25% of that before.
