Harmonic analysis was carried out on tide data of Lianxinggang and Qinglonggang station, which are located in the downstream and upstream of the north branch of the Yangtze Estuary, respectively. Some appropriate parameters are selected to characterize the geomorphology features of the north branch of the Yangtze Estuary from the perspective of tidal asymmetry. It shows that tides in the north branch are flood-dominant, and tidal asymmetry of upstream is more dominant than that of downstream. The offshore tide deforms strongly as it approaches the narrowing mouth. It indicates that tidal asymmetry has a profound effect on geomorphology.
