The horizontal clearance effect was studied on the bending and torsion stresses in catamaran cross-deck. Also the influence of the hull geometric characteristics on the stresses of deck stringer under torsion is presented for rectangular compartment of open type ship. The computer calculations were done to study the the influence of geometrical parameters of structural elements on the stress state of ship structures. The dependences were obtained which can be used to perform an assessment of stress state of ship structures at early stages of designing and allow to preselect the structural parts with extreme stresses.
