Abstract
Boussinesq-type equations have been widely used to describe tide or wave induced groundwater wave propagation in coastal aquifer. In present paper, several typical nonlinear Boussinesq type equations considering unsaturated flow or not have been listed and compared. Results show that, only emphasis on the flow in saturated zone, traditional Boussinesq type equations show much discrepancy between predicted and actual value. In order to overcome such shortcoming, a new type of Boussinesq equation based on relative hydraulic conductivity and soil saturation formula is recommended which achieves better precision and highlights the importance of unsaturated zone on wave propagation.
