Abstract

This paper proposes optimization methods for the large cranes in the construction process of functional modules, jackets and steel piles. Functional modules are partially constructed in the way of jacking up instead of the traditional lifting way by cranes, and jackets are installed by the way of roll-up that substitutes for traditional lifting way, while the load-out method for steel piles at yard is changed from lifting by floating crane to rolling on by crawler crane and winch. Thus, the optimization methods largely reduce the quantities of large cranes that are used in the construction, and decrease the costs and schedules of construction process.
