Abstract

Caofeidian harbour is a large scale reclamation project in Bohai Bay, China. The construction of Caofeidian changes the hydrodynamic environment greatly. A 3D numerical tidal flow model of Caofeidian harbour is established based on Delft3D to study and compare the characteristics of 3D tidal flow in different layers before and after the construction of 2012 project. The results indicate that the horizontal flow is dominant. The velocity increases in front of Caofeidian foreland and decreases in Laolonggou deep channel and harbour basins of Caofeidian.
