State Company "SEVMORGEO" specializes in design of new technologies and equipment for marine geological prospecting. During last 20 years its main activities are development and introduction of new marine technologies for geological survey of hydrocarbons in offshore zones and mineral resources in the world's ocean, including sulphide, crust and nodules. In our paper we will present latest modification of different samplers, drilling and geotechnical rigs and multidisciplinary bottom systems.
During last 20 years SC "SEVMORGEO" has specialized in design of new technologies and equipment for marine geological prospecting (Smolov, Ivanov, 2001). Main activities are development and introduction of new marine technologies for geological survey of hydrocarbons in offshore zones and mineral resources in the World Ocean including sulphides (Smolov, Ivanov, 1997), crust (Rozhdestvensky, 2001) and nodules (Smolov, Ivanov, 1997). There are different samplers, drilling and geotechnical rigs and hydrochemical bottom systems ((Smolov, Ivanov, 1996). DRILLING RIGS For drilling sulphides and cobalt-rich manganese crust, we designed and tested the Deep Sea Drilling Ring GBU-0,7/4000 (Fig. 1) and GBU-1.0/6000–2 (Fig. 2). Main parameters of GBU-0.7/4000 are: water depth up to 4000 m, number of core- 1, length of core - 0,7 m, bore diameter 112 mm (Table 1). Main parameters of GBU-1.0/6000–2 are: water depth up to 6000 m, number of core- 2, length of core -1,0 m, bore diameter 112 mm. During last 3 years we have were drilled more than 100 boreholes in Pacific Ocean.
For investigation physical- mechanical properties of bottom sediments we developed deep sea geotechnical rigs (Ivanov, Rozhdestvensky, Smolov, 2001). UGI rig has successfully been used on the Russian and Chinese fields of ferromanganese nodules in the Pacific Ocean (Clarion-Clipperton Zone). The measured information is transferred in real time mode and is visualized in physical values in a traditional for engineering geology methods.
