Abstract

Considering the wave and current effect, the platform motion and the large deformation of drilling riser, a dynamical model is constructed in this paper, which can simulate the dynamic response of the riser in complex seastates. The wave spectrum is achieved with P-M (Pierson-Moskowitz) spectrum. Based on the wave spectrum, regular wave theory is used to simulate the wave. With the wave and RAO of the platform known, the motion of the platform vessel is computed. An Euler-Bernouli beam is used considering the motion of the vessel as dynamic boundary.Newmark-β method and Newton- Raphson iterating method are applied to get the numerical solution of the dynamical model with self-developed computational code. To verify the results of the model, the numerical data are compared with the typical results, and a good agreement is achieved. Under the met ocean condition of caused by 1-year typhoon met in the South China Sea, dynamic response of the riser hard hung off to evacuate with HYSY 981 drilling platform is studied.
