ABSTRACT

The brief view of the development of jacket offshore platforms along China Coast is described in this paper at the first. The data of two times prototype tests of the jacket platforms in the Bohai Bay China show that, the dynamic behaviour of this type of platforms is quite reasonable for petroleum and natural gas production. The calculated values of frequencies of the jacket platforms by comparisons with the results of prototype tested platforms prove that, the analytical method which presented here is rather accurate. One strong motion observation station is set on the one of the Cheng-Bei Oilfield Platform A and recorded the acceleration response spectra of the platform under current and waves excitations.

INTRODUCTION

The jacket offshore platforms have been construction ted in the Bohai Bay, China since 60ths when the petroleum and natural gas were discovered in this area. The operation work is easy and the cost of construction is low, therefore they are distributed quickly from center part of the Bohai Bay to the north west and southeast part of the Bay, such as Liao Dong Bay recently, The Liao Dong Bay is frozen into ice during winter time, so the iceberg loads must be considered in the jacket platforms design and research work on ice loads is carrying out over there. New Oilfields namely BZ28–1 and BZ34–2/4 are developed in the southeast part of the Bohai Bay, apart from Tian Jing City about 200km in the southeast. The jacket platforms not only constructed over the Bohai Bay but a1$0 developed from East Sea to the broad South China Sea. The sea depths of platforms site are from several l0m to 100m and more.
