Abstract

Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) have carried out a joint development program to determine the reel-ability of High Frequency Electrical Resistance Welded (HF-ERW) pipe on the HMC Deep water Construction Vessel (DCV) Aegir and to assess the collapse resistance of the pipes reeled and installed to seabed from the DCV Aegir.

This paper presents and discusses the first part of the joint development program to assess the reel-ability of the HF-ERW pipe on the Aegir by correlating the results of the test program with the existing HMC criterion line for minimum reelable wall thickness.
