Abstract

Based on the hourly data of 30 long term tidal gauges on the coast of China Seas, long term trend of sea level and amplitude of the principal tidal constituents are estimated. The sea level along most of the coast of China Seas is rising since the 1960s, amplitude of the principal tides at 93% stations shows long term trend under sea level change and 80% of the stations has the same trend in sea level change and the variation of principal tide amplitude. The result is valuable to oceanic numerical study in providing the water height using the principal tidal constituents on the open boundaries.
