China has a wide continental slope to decay tsunami energy. If M9 earthquake occurs at Manila trench or Rykyu trench, the wave produced by tsunami wave at south and southeast china coast would be no more than 5-6m(Yingchun, 2007). The World Meteorological Organization estimates that about 90 percent of all natural disasters are extreme meteorological hazards like typhoon, hurricane and tropical cyclone which triggered disasters in the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Oceans, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico areas. This paper introduced joint probability analysis of different combinations of typhoon characteristics based on the Multivariate Compound Extreme Value Distribution (MCEVD) and assess their induced disaster events focusing on the islands of China.
