Abstract

In this paper, the dynamic behavior of a single free span pipeline is analyzed and the effect of various factors/parameters (different design conditions, wave and current characteristics, soil characteristics, length of the free span and boundary conditions at the ends of the pipeline) on its dynamic behavior and its structural integrity is investigated. Nonlinear pipe-soil interaction of the part of the pipeline lying on the seabed is considered. A global buckling check is also implemented. The effect of each examined factor/parameter on the dynamic behavior and the structural integrity of the free span pipeline is discussed and demonstrated.
