TGC (Thixotropic Gel Compaction) method is a new type of static compaction method applied to soil improvement of soft ground to which a special grouting material is injected. In order to examine the fundamental mechanism of ground densification by TGC method, a series of tests using a large calibration chamber and the numerical estimation based on the cavity expansion theory were conducted to investigate the influence of vertical pressure and injection type on effects of ground improvement in this research.
