Abstract

This paper investigates the tensile armour bending curvature equations and associated bending stress. Although there are already several different sets of simplified tensile wire curvature equations in the published literature, until now there is no detailed comparative analysis to explain why these equations are different and how the difference impacts on the tensile armour bending stress. Based on development of a complete set of equations that fully describes tensile armour wire behaviour under global pipe bending, revised tensile armour bending curvature equations are proposed. A comparison of the bending curvature and stress results between different curvature equations is presented.
