Abstract

Water-alternating-gas (WAG) process is proposed to improve the sweep efficiency of CO2-EOR. The main objective of this study is to examine effects of the most important reservoir and operational parameters in WAG process. In the WAG process, WAG ratio, well patterns and reservoir heterogeneities should be considered. The purpose of this study is maximized net present value (NPV) which is objective function for optimization. DECE method can maximize computational efficiency to search optimum NPV. Comparison of NPVs showed that optimum design implementing WAG and well patterns can suggest the most economical plan for the oil recovery from heterogeneous reservoirs.
