Abstract

Polymer flooding enhanced oil recovery utilizing low salinity water improves oil recovery. An attempt was made to identify the mechanism and sensitivity analyses were made to understand low salinity effects on low salinity waterflooding and polymer flooding in a complex oil field. Sensitivity analysis was performed on its design parameters such as injection scenario, slug size, solution salinity and polymer viscosity. The analyses indicated that efficiency of polymer flooding was significantly improved by using low salinity water to polymer solution.
