ABSTRACT

In present paper the CFD and FEM coupling method is applied to study the unsteady fluid-structure interaction (FSI) of composite propeller in a viscous flow. The three different stacking sequences for a composite propeller are designed. A FSI method is used to analyze the effect of stacking sequence on pressure profile, hydrodynamic and structure performance. The results show that the hydrodynamic performance of composite propeller is approximately the same as their metallic counterparts. However, they offer weight reduction due to their smaller material density.
