ABSTRACT

Observations made in Yueliang and Qishui Bays along the coast of Tonggu Hill National Nature Reserve are used in this study to examine the morphodynamics of sandy beaches in the two bays. The grain size analysis of the sediment samples is used to study the sources and transport paths of the beach sediments. The empirical expressions for equilibrium beach profiles are used to assess the stability of beach profiles in the two bays. Comparisons are made between the two bays in coastal geomorphological characteristics, hydrodynamics conditions, sediment grain sizes, beach profile stability etc. and possible reasons are discussed.
