ABSTRACT:

For guiding the environmental design of ship and the building of naval architecture, a method with relatively complete life cycle analysis (LCA) is used for assessment of the steel of marine structure in environmental impact style of China, including standard humane equivalence, The aim helps to reduce the global environment problems involving the lack of resources and energy and environmental deterioration. Given the LCA's list of the marine structure steel, the specific types of the regional and local environmental impact are divided, based on the spatial scale and environmental pollution. This also includes resources and energy consumption, human health environmental impacts under the environmental impact object and approach. After the characterization we adopt the potential value of China environmental impact per capital in 1990 as the criterion of the environmental impact. As a case study with the 82,000 tons Panamax bulk carrier's hull, the structure steel analysis is predicted, which illustrates the most important environmental impact factor of its life cycle, especially its sorting values in the selected types of environmental impact assessment. Hopefully, our results can provide a valuable base for the analysis of steel environmental assessment in marine structure of China by the LCA method.

PREFACE

Study on the LCA evaluation in the steel of naval architecture is a part of the system of green material selection, as well as one of the key techniques in the green design and manufacture. The system boundary of LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) includes the analysis of the process of the production, transporting, constructing, operating, maintaining, dismantling and recycling of the production. With this methodology we can excavate the potential sites of reducing resources, energy consumption and environmental emissions during different periods of the life cycle of the naval architecture where steel are used.
