ABSTRACT

This paper carries out a comprehensive analysis about the spatial distribution of china offshore seismic epicenter, seismic cycle, the relationship between the coastal waters and the mainland, and the modern active fault's effect on earthquake based on historical seismic data, modern seismic observation data and geophysical information of each sea area, and takes a detailed discussion about the earthquakes and symbiotic disasters' impact on offshore oil and gas resources development. This work provides a significant reference for the improvement of the offshore engineering technology in earthquakeproof and earthquake-resistance.

INTRODUCTION

China has a long coastline and vast sea with abundant marine resources. With the community's rising demand for resources and energy, marine resources development and utilization has got more and more attention. At the same time a large scale of marine engineering facilities has appeared, such as offshore platforms, cross-sea Bridge, artificial islands. China's coastal waters are in the west of the western Pacific island arc chain, and with several oil and gas-rich shelf margin basin. So the development of oil and gas resources are booming and becoming gradually important. But we have to know that, due to China's coastal waters located in the convergent suture edge of the Pacific Plate, the Eurasian Plate and the Indian Plate, the long-term and intense tectonic movement always took place here. Seismic hazard and its coexistence disasters happened frequently and might cause serious damage to marine engineering facilities and maritime operations. Therefore, it's significant to study the region's geological conditions that may cause earthquakes, earthquake formation mechanism, earthquake disaster types, distribution characteristics and the formation rule of the symbiotic disaster. And this work will provide scientific basis for disaster prevention, disaster fighting and minimizing the loss.
