Usually the Izmenchivoe Lake (Sakhalin area) is connected with Okhotsk sea by channel through which the exchange of water masses that rich oxygen is carried out. But sometimes the channel was out and the products of decomposition of biomass accumulate on the bottom and lake starts turned into swamp. Therefore, in 2007 the researches of conditions that promoting of channel out were undertaken. Two topographical surveys on the spit, separating a lagoon from the sea and two bathymetric surveys of a coastal site, accompanied by samples of a bottom material were fulfilled. Also 4 bottom stations with hydrostatic pressure sensor were installed on depth from 5 to 11 m. Also in a point with depth about 12 m the current meter SonTek Argonaut was installed. The obtained records allowed to study the characteristics of waves in a wide range of periods from wind waves and swell up to tides. The carrying out of experimental researches allowed to determine the characteristics of waves parameters in different synoptic situations - from the strong storm in 25 September 2007 up to quiet weather. It is detected, that at strong storms take place erosion of a shore to the north from Izmenchivoe Lake. Northern winds that are typical for a back part of a cyclone stipulate moving the bottom material to the side of spite. These conditions are a main reason of channel out. This also is promoted by derivation infragravity edge waves with periods about 80 and 120 s as a result of transformation of wind waves in a near-shore area.
The Izmenchivoe is one of beautiful natural lake of the Sakhalin Island. Usually it is connected with the Okhotsk Sea by channel, through which the exchange of water masses that rich oxygen. But sometimes, for example in 2005-2007, the channel was out and materials of biomass decomposition were accumulated at the bottom of lake, there is a fish kills and lake starts turn into swamp.
