The paper discusses the Special Information-Analytical System on the Shelf Arctic Seas Environmental Conditions (SIASArcticGas) that is to form the basis for providing the "ArcticGas" project of the Russian Joint-Stock Company (RJSC) "Gasprom" with environmental data and information. The paper analyzes the objectives of the SIAS-ArcticGas development, application domain of the system, concept of its creation and its architecture. The paper presents an examples of the using of the system for the analysis of the environmental data and information.
Efficiency and validity of marine environmental investigations, planning and management protection-related decisions depend considerably on the level of information support for this activity. It is required to use the large volume of data, to analyse of this data using the different tools and models; to present of results using modern effective methods and means. This makes it necessary to treat a full ("end-to-end") technological cycle of data management from acquisition of observational data to providing the end-user with complex and valid information on all marine environmental aspects (called Integrated Information Technology, IIT (Pospelov, 1983, Fedra, 1997)). Marine environmental data can be very high volume including a lot of parameters of different disciplines, origins and structure. A lot of data are mainly held in tables, books, maps, research and technical reports, as well as on computer-compatible media in non-standard formats. Special Information-Analytical System on the Shelf Arctic Seas Environmental Conditions (SIAS-ArcticGaz) is an informational basis for the Russian "Arctic-Gaz" project of RJSC "Gasprom". It realizes IIT for: -data management - acquisition, storage, processing, analysis, interpretation, and distribution; - informational provision of all stages of exploitation of hydrocarbon resources of Russian Shelf Arctic Seas: Barents Sea, Pechora Sea and Kara sea (fig. I). (figure 1 shown in paper)
