Nigeria is endowed with abundant Natural gas resources, which in terms of energy, is in excess of the nation's proven crude oil reserves. Development and utilization of Natural gas is becoming a major concern in terms of primary energy worldwide due to its abundance, flexibility and combustion characteristics. This study looks at the challenges facing natural gas utilization in Nigeria and solutions and proposed. These challenges includes: Terrain difficulty in the Niger Delta which hinders the gas gathering process, insufficient gas facilities, for gas. Lack of regional and International markets, lack of existing interconnecting pipelines, political and economic issues. The solutions to these include: creation of export oriented Natural gas project which will create regional and international market, invention of new physical incentives for natural gas utilization. Commercialization of Natural gas will increase the nation's GPD.
