In responding to the challenges of climate change and in order to meet the carbon emissions peak goal in China around 2030, the petroleum and petrochemical industries in China have been taking great efforts in carbon reduction and achieving sustainable development. As one of the major operators in China's petroleum and petrochemical industries, Sinopec has been carried out low-carbon development strategy and tactics, such as optimizing industries structure, developing low-carbon energy, improving energy efficiency, carbon asset management and CCU/CCUS practicing etc.. Besides the low-carbon development strategy, the paper also introduces the progress and effects of CCS/CCUS practices in Sinopec, such as CO2-based EOR, conversion of CO2 into fuels and chemicals, mineralization of CO2, bio-utilization of CO2 etc.
