Abstract

The emergence of issues related to Top Of Line Corrosion (TOLC) has caused the industry to realize that the subject requires more scrutiny, and that current practice tends to under-estimate TOLC corrosion rates. There has been an increasing amount of research being undertaken to assess the prediction of this particular form of corrosion. This paper presents various mitigation methods for TOLC and discusses how the choice must work in concert with the overall system-level design of the project. This paper also presents a new approach using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to assess both the water droplet level at the TOL and the associated protection from corrosion inhibitor.
