ABSTRACT

A two-phase slug dissipation model was modified and validated against three-phase gas oil water experimental slug length to slug unit length ratio in undulating pipes. The two-phase model predicted the slug flow evolution along the undulated pipeline with a reasonable accuracy. Furthermore, experimental pressure gradients, average total liquid and water holdups, slug frequency and length data were compared with the commercial transient multiphase simulator, OLGATM, which shows a good match with high flow-rate conditions. The models validation study shows that the effect of water cut on slug flow evolution in undulating pipelines was limited to the effect on dispersion characteristics.
