ABSTRACT

This paper presents a 1D transient model to be the base of a software to predict hydrates formation and evolution along the pipelines of gas production systems. To be able to predict the hydrate particle size distribution and the hydrate coat behaviour, a population balance equation has been coupled to a gas-water-solid transient transport model. Special care has been taken to describe the different kinetic and physical processes that affect the crystal sizes distribution and the flow pattern.
