ABSTRACT

Between August 2003 and May 2004 fourteen large twin screw type multiphase pumps –up to 1.2 MW each – have been delivered to Central Africa. The scope of supply included the pump-motor skid assembly with auxiliary piping external re-circulation system and complete instrumentation, lube and seal oil systems with the interconnecting piping to the pump skid. Besides the fact that these multiphase pumps are operating in a remote location with all the logistical hurdles that had to be overcome, this project also inherited many other challenges which are to some extent related to the operating location. This paper describes the specific challenges and how those were solved to make this a successful multiphase pump application in a very remote area.
