ABSTRACT:

In general, building an accurate Mechanical Earth Model (MEM) is critical in many well construction and hydraulic fracturing projects. To build an MEM, sonic logs are widely used to calculate Poisson's ratio, shear modulus, and Young's modulus. One of the disadvantages of this approach is the unidentified percentage of uncertainty associated with converting dynamic Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio values to static values.
