The partial collapse of a house, built in the 50''s, on an karstic area of the city of Havana, allowed to check the existence ·of a cavern a few meters below, on which 60% of the structure foundation was leaned. The magnitude of the parameter Q, differentiate two critical areas inside the cavern, both with deformations for the vettical loads on the fractured massif. Several types of deformations were described, among which stand out Low magnitude sinking, given by the flexion of the rocks layers, Block sinking conditioned by the relationships between the spacing of joints and the width of the foundations, and Block sinking until failure magnitudes, conditioned by the fractures altered by the presence of continuous flow of wastewaters. The integral study of the jointing and the dynamics of the deformations, allowed to establish the points of reinforcement of the solid foundation base.
The Havana City territory is represented, from a geologic point of view, for Neogen and Quaternary carbonated rocks in more than 60% of its area. In the west part of the city, that was urbanized during the 50th , a great number of houses are foundation on karstics rocks, and they calls the attention by the diversity of solutions applied.
