ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: A detailed geomechanics study was carried out during the mining of two sill pillar stopes at Brunswick Mining. Microseismics, conventional ground control instruments, numerical modelling and visual observations were used to understand the observed failure mechanisms. Severe rock mass failure was initiated in several locations. The complex nature of the failures was unexpected. Only through the use of all the available tools, was it possible to understand some of the rock mass problems.
