ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: Controlled experiments were conducted in an attempt to better understand pore collapse during reservoir compaction resulting from an increase in an effective confining pressure. Micromechanism changes that accompany stages of pore collapse were recorded for the high porosity, test material (Cordoba Cream Limestone). Though cataclastic flow and crystal plasticity are both operative throughout pore collapse, the contribution of a single mechanism to the total deformation causing pore collapse varies during specific collapse stages.
