ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: For an underground nuclear waste repository, coupling of thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) process is critical to evaluate the reliability of a repository design. In this study, sensitivity analysis were carried out to investigate the influences of the following parameters on thermal, mechanical, and hydraulic behaviors of rock: (a) opening dimensions; (b) repository depth; (c) deposition tunnel size; (d) rock properties; (e) rock mass properties; and (f) in situ stress condition. From this, it was possible to determine the degree of the influence of each parameter on thermal, mechanical, and hydraulic behaviors of rock.
