ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The computation of the in-situ stress magnitudes from anelastic strain recovery tests - ASR, is presented for six samples from Brazilian northeast onshore wells. A new model has been developed based on a poroviscoelastic approach, which is able to handle core shrinkage due to pore fluid diffusion. The stresses were obtained by back-analyzing the field data: the anelastic strains generated by the model were fitted to the experimental strain curves through the Simplex algorithm. The results were compared to shallow seismic events and hydraulic fracturing data, showing good agreement.
