ABSTRACT:
3D photogrammetric models and discrete fracture network models were created for four different sites located near Butte, Montana. The rock masses at the sites represent different types of geology and different degrees of geotechnical characterization. The 3D models were built using Bentley’s ContextCapture and Autodesk’s Recap software and the discrete fracture network models were created using Golder’s FracMan software. Preliminary models generated from field data were augmented with mapped features from 3D photogrammetric models and with fractures generated in FracMan. These case studies are presented as examples of discrete fracture network generation.
